Christine O’Brien (Shanahan), MA (hons), Dip. Fine Art, works in a range of media - from oils to art installation.
'Origin' (right) was inspired by a reed bed - the woven edge to land and water; standing but not still; seeds in wind; roots taking hold. The river bank, a point of convergence /divergence, is emblematic for life that gathers to itself; self sustaining and capable of embracing change. Boundary lines that separate, link, divide, protect or connect people and places and our relationship with the natural environment are common themes in her work.
Christine co-curates 20ten exhibitions.
She is an experienced tutor and regularly facilitates creative painting workshops. Photos and information about the Scattering-Gathering artist talk and workshop can be seen on www.cobsart.com.
