Darragh Lyons

Darragh Lyons is a Waterford City based artist. He was born in Cork in 1982, he attended Newtown School Waterford followed by the School of Architecture at University College Dublin. He graduated with an honours degree and worked on various projects in Waterford and Limerick.

His work demonstrates an architectural influence through the use of clean, crisp lines and strong perspective. The “House” motif appears often.
This ubiquitous image evokes memories, emotions, aspirations and fears associated with buildings and the spaces within, around and between them.

The current series of paintings are influenced by Le Corbusier’s Chapel at Ronchamp and also reflect a Buddhist outlook in allowing us to choose the frame of reference through which we observe life and the world which we are part of.
